Investigation launched into near-death experience of eight firefighters stranded in Nowra inferno

I don’t care what excuses they have for leaving two trucks full of firefighters behind – this is disgraceful!

They say that the truck was not suited to the conditions and thus they could not go back for the stranded firefighters… And they say that their truck was “broken” – yet it was still drivable.

Like most Australians, I appreciate all these guys have done over the last few months… But as a veteran who spent many years in the military, I just shake my head at this because I can tell you now, this would NEVER happen in the military – EVER.

I don’t think they should be kicked out of the fire service, but these guys should be taking a long, hard look at themselves and the fire service should probably consider ways to remind their firefighters that no man should be left behind…
